The CHANGES Project

Dr. Simone Charles and Dr. Jacob Warren

The CHANGES Project (Co-PIs Warren and Smalley) focuses on health screening and education for underserved rural populations by connecting with the faith-based community in rural Statesboro, GA. Through the project, we are able to provide free health screenings for obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and behavioral health at area churches and provide one-on-one health education sessions to discuss screening results with participants. We also offer health ministry building activities for local churches to help them create sustainable efforts within their church to improve their congregation's health.

The Original Directors Student volunteers prepare to take blood pressures of congregation members

The project is funded by Grant D04RH16319 through the Office of Rural Health Policy within the Health Resources and Services Administration.

To learn more about the CHANGES Project, to schedule a health fair, or to learn more about our health ministry building activities, please contact Senait Woldai at senait_woldai@georgiasouthern.edu
