When autumn blows cool breezes and Eagle spirit heats up, it can only mean one thing: Homecoming. Thousands of Georgia Southern University alumni return to campus and join current students and community members to celebrate Homecoming. A week-long observance with a variety of events, reunions, social gatherings, parade of themed floats and fun culminates with the Eagles Homecoming game at Paulson Stadium and the announcement of the Homecoming King and Queen.
One of the most exciting times of the year, the Homecoming and the events of Homecoming week offers something for everyone. In addition to welcoming alumni back to campus to see their old friends and classmates, Georgia Southern University plays host to events and activities throughout the week, all centered around a student-selected theme. Events have included the GSU Idol musical competition, the popular and competitive Doo-Dah Step Show, a giant pep rally, golf tournaments and of course, a huge homecoming parade which ends at Sweetheart Circle with a Homecoming cookout hosted by the President of the University. Following the cookout, everyone is invited to view a movie on a giant outdoor screen and enjoy the spectacular annual fireworks display.
