Southern Pride

The hardest working Band in show business!

The Southern Pride Marching Band is Georgia Southern University's marching band. Two hundred members strong, the University's marching band celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2007. Southern Pride performs at all home football games, select away athletic events, parades, and as an exhibition band at marching contests throughout the state and region. The band combines the highest quality of music and execution, while providing entertainment and enthusiasm for all Georgia Southern fans.

Under the watchful eyes of its whistle-blowing leader, Southern Pride works on formations, movements and cadences in an effort to become a well-tuned machine. After surviving the rigors of two-a-day practice sessions during the heat of August and adjusting to the demands of being full-time students, the blue and white-clad band members fire up fans during a pre-game show that includes the famous "GSU Scramble." They also perform elaborate multi-song and themed shows during halftime.

Always in demand, the popularity of the band's performances has grown to such an extent that Southern Pride has produced multiple "Greatest Hits" CDs with popular and most-requested songs.
