Facts about violence on
television
1) By the age of 18 the average American will have
seen 200,000 violent acts on television
2) Movies strive for high body counts such as
Die Hard where the unoffical count was 264 people dead
3) 44% of the shows on network stations contained
at least some violence, compared with 59% on basic cable and 85% on
premium channels
4) Children could vecome used to the horror of
violence and gradually accept violence as a way to solve problems
5) Studies have shown that children are more
likely to imitate what they see
Can television be the cause of the violence in
our youth? Many belive that it plays a major roll with it. I believe that
it does contribute to the violence, but is not the only reason there is
violence.
