August 12, 2020: Core Curriculum Redesign Town Hall Sessions

Dear Colleagues,

Please join us for a series of virtual town hall meetings to redesign Georgia Southern University’s core curriculum.

Georgia Southern’s core curriculum is a shared experience of all our students and a hallmark of all our graduates. The core curriculum introduces students to diverse ways of knowing and learning, and highlights the value of inclusive excellence. By providing students with a well-rounded, foundational training, it equips them with the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful at every stage of their career, to be informed and engaged citizens, and to be lifelong learners.

As we advance in this new century, we are starting the process to improve the core curriculum to ensure it provides students with 21st Century skills.

We invite you to join us in these town hall discussions, which will be conducted through Zoom. The core curriculum should be representative of our Georgia Southern community, so we encourage everyone to participate.

In these town hall discussions, we’ll have the opportunity to think big picture.

·        What kind of graduates do we want to have?

·        What makes Georgia Southern stand out from other universities?

·        What future do we envision for our students and our institution?

·        How can all of these things be reflected in the structure and content of our core curriculum?

Come share your unique perspective with us. Help shape a robust and dynamic core curriculum for future students. There will be 31 virtual sessions available to attend, each tailored for specific audiences (faculty, staff, students, and alumni). The schedule of the virtual sessions can be found here: https://www.georgiasouthern.edu/academics/vpie/

Registration information will be sent on Friday, August 21.

Thank you,

Office of the Provost
