Terminology and Definitions

Dining Plan

A “dining plan” is a prepaid arrangement or program offered by Eagle Dining at Georgia Southern University, that provides access to a predetermined number of meals or dining credits over a specified period. These plans allow individuals to eat at designated dining facilities on campus, offering a variety of meal options including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sometimes snacks. Dining plans can vary in structure, ranging from all-inclusive packages with unlimited access to meals, to plans that allocate a set number of meals or dining credits per day, week, or semester. The purpose of a dining plan is to offer convenience, cost savings, and ease of budgeting for meals.

Dining Plan User

A “Dining Plan User” denotes a user of a dining plan, and principle participant in the dining program.

Dining Dollars

“Dining Dollars (D$)” are a dollar-for-dollar equivalency funds program built into the Eagle Dining Plan and EagleXpress packages. They can be used only at Eagle Dining Services dining locations on Georgia Southern University’s Statesboro and Armstrong campuses. Dining Dollars will automatically be deducted before EagleXpress funds at any time of purchase in an Eagle Dining Services dining location. Dining Dollars expire at the end of each academic year (May of each calendar year). Example: A plan purchased in the fall term of the academic year will see its Dining Dollars expire at the end of the spring term in that next calendar year. A plan purchased in spring term will see its Dining Dollars expire at the end of that spring term.

“EagleXpress” is a declining debit system connected to your Eagle Card or Eagle Card Mobile ID account through Eagle Card Services. For more information, visit

Residential Dining Facility Policies: No outside food or drink is permitted into Dining Commons, Lakeside or The Galley without the expressed consent from Eagle Dining staff.

  1. Withdrawal from Georgia Southern University.
  2. Cancellation or Exemption of the University Housing Agreement that did not resolve from expulsion or suspension from University Housing.
