Regular Admission

• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• A minimum 2.8 cumulative undergrad grade point average
• GRE no less than 146 Verbal and 142 Quantitative
  • Applicants holding a graduate degree do not need to submit GRE scores.
• Formal Statement of Graduate Education Goals (Statement of Purpose)

Application Process

All applicants must apply through Georgia Southern University’s Office of Graduate Admissions. Completed application packets received by deadline will be fully considered for admission to the program and financial assistance. Applications received after the priority deadline but before the University deadline will be considered as they are received until the program reaches full capacity.

*International transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES accredited evaluation service and must be a course by course evaluation and include a GPA. (www.naces.org)

Application Deadlines

Accelerated Bachelors to Masters (MSSM-ABM)

If you are a bachelor’s degree student interested in the Master of Science in Sports Medicine program, you may be eligible for an accelerated bachelor’s to master’s (ABM) program. ABM programs allow you to begin graduate studies in the senior year of your bachelor’s degree so you can accelerate completion of a graduate degree. You’ll earn both a bachelor’s and a graduate degree faster. And since any graduate courses taken as an undergraduate are billed at the undergraduate tuition rate, you’ll save money too.

The MSSM-ABM is designed to allow undergraduate students currently enrolled in the human performance/fitness management concentration in the Health Sciences program the opportunity to enter the Master of Science in Sports Medicine program after completing 90 credit hours. ABM students complete the 2-year MSSM program in only 1.5 years, reducing time-demand and tuition expenses.

Research Opportunities

While studying, you’ll have the opportunity to perform coursework and research in our Biodynamics and Human Performance Center, which houses state-of-the art laboratories for biomechanics, exercise physiology, and strength and conditioning.

Having the experience of not only conducting a research project but also the opportunity and encouragement of taking the research completely through the dissemination (presentation and publication) process provides you an enhanced ability to evaluate research as it relates to future developments in sports medicine.
