About Inclusive Excellence

Inclusive Excellence is an ongoing, collaborative process combining Georgia Southern University’s commitment to academic excellence with its pledge to embed diversity and inclusiveness throughout University life.

Inclusive Excellence offers a wide range of events and experiences for students, faculty and staff throughout the 2018-19 academic year — and beyond — to accomplish the following goals:

  • To prepare Georgia Southern students for success in a multicultural workplace and in a global economy.
  • To create an atmosphere with an even deeper commitment to diversity, inclusion and the pursuit of excellence in all areas.
  • To ensure that every member of the Georgia Southern community has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential in a supportive, welcoming environment.
  • To equip graduates with the tools they need to excel in an increasingly multicultural world.

With guidance from acclaimed diversity, leadership and organizational change expert Dr. Damon A. Williams, Georgia Southern is currently assessing strengths and weaknesses related to issues of diversity and inclusion. Dr. Williams will develop a comprehensive Inclusive Excellence Plan, incorporating feedback from the Georgia Southern community, that will serve as a road map for the future.

Engagement from students, faculty, staff and other key University stakeholders is critical. Special events are taking place on all campuses to spark dialogue and to gather data, observations and feedback regarding Georgia Southern’s overall campus climate.

WHAT’S THE #1 PREDICTOR OF SUCCESS IN TODAY’S GLOBAL ECONOMY?

According to the American Management Association, it’s your Cultural Intelligence Quotient, which enables you to excel in an increasingly diverse workplace.

“Your Cultural Intelligence Quotient is a set of capabilities and skills proven to give employees and their organizations a competitive advantage in our ever-shrinking world.

That’s why a high CQ is an increasingly sought-after capability by many employers.”

Our Goal:

Create an inclusive campus community

Raise students’ cultural intelligence quotients

Graduate tomorrow’s most desirable employees
