1990 Georgia Southern College officially became Georgia Southern University on July 1.

2015 The 25th anniversary of Georgia Southern’s University status was celebrated during halftime of a football game this fall. Former President Nicholas Henry (below at right, with Interim President Jean E. Bartels and First Gentleman Terry Bartels) was recognized for his visionary leadership as the institution became a university.
