One University on three campuses soaring to serve Georgia and the Southeast

In Our Communities

Georgia Southern works to collaborate with partners across the Coastal region to both improve communities and enrich the experiences of our students and faculty. A University System of Georgia (USG) report shows Georgia Southern’s annual economic impact soaring 7.4% to more than $1.1 billion in fiscal year 2022. These economic impacts translate into jobs, higher incomes and greater production of goods and services.

Regional Educational Collaborative

Through the Regional Educational Collaborative, Georgia Southern partners with school systems to improve educational experiences both in the College of Education and in select schools through literacy programs.

Business Innovation Group (BIG)

The Business Innovation Group (BIG) is committed to developing a vibrant entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem for the southeast region.  BIG provides resources for students and entrepreneurs to gain skills and training necessary to understand business principles, experience how businesses operate, and successfully launch new enterprises.

Leadership Development Institute (LDI)

Georgia Southern’s Leadership Development Institute (LDI) includes approximately 65 campus leaders who have committed themselves to professional and personal growth. Engaging city, county and state government leaders as well as business people, faculty and students, the institute leverages existing expertise to train, mentor and develop regional talent to build the leaders of tomorrow.

On Our Campuses

At Georgia Southern, our campuses are buzzing with learning, full of activities and events, bristling with energy, and brightened by diversity. We are providing the experiences and preparation our students need to make a difference and we want our students to feel anchored to our campuses like many Eagle alumni do. Georgia Southern has several renovation and construction projects in the works, all of which have secured advanced State funding.

The Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center

The Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center will be the future home of Georgia Southern basketball and the growing Waters College of Health Professions. With new locker rooms, training rooms, a strength and conditioning area, fueling stations, and academic spaces coming on board, the 95,000-square-foot Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center will create a best-in-class student-athlete experience.

Sweetheart Circle Preservation

The rolling lawn of picturesque live oaks and pecan trees in Sweetheart Circle has played host to many important events in the University’s history, including countless marriage proposals and wedding ceremonies. The original landmark buildings on Sweetheart Circle—constructed by students in 1906—are ready for significant renovation and remediation.

Science Classroom and Lab Building

A new building dedicated to the sciences will provide students, especially those in advanced degrees and health sciences, the opportunity for hands-on learning within collaborative environments and will allow the University to remain competitive in its scientific, laboratory and research endeavors.

Lamar Q. Ball Jr. Raptor Center

The Georgia Southern eagle, Freedom, lives in the 17-acre campus-based Center for Wildlife Education and the Lamar Q. Ball Jr. Raptor Center, which has a wetlands area, an old-growth forest and a mountain display. It is one of the leading environmental educational facilities in Georgia and an endowment fund will help maintain it and provide for additional learning opportunities about Georgia wildlife by the thousands of people who visit each year.

Parker Creates Opportunities for Students

Greg Parker, Founder and CEO of The Parker Companies, gave the University a $5 million gift in 2018 to name the College of Business, establish the Parker Business Scholars Program, Parker Business Scholarship Fund, and Parker Faculty Support Fund.

By investing in Georgia Southern, which educates young people mostly from our own area, we’re investing in the future of our local business community. We want to have a profound relationship with the business college and create a conduit of opportunities for Georgia Southern. Georgia Southern graduates are from this part of the world, and we want to support them. There’s huge talent at the University and we want to be part of it.
