Karin Fisher, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Elementary and Special Education, was invited to present on two panel discussions at the Teacher Education Division of the Council Exceptional Children (CEC) Conference held November 2-5 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The first panel Fisher participated in, titled “Surviving the First Three Years on the Tenure Track,” provided strategies on earning tenure with a total of four members who have earned tenure (two recently), and provided a question and answer about faculty careers in academia.

Fisher also participated in a panel titled, “TED/HECSE Panel on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: A Call to Action,” which featured voices from the field on how to recruit and retain a more diverse teacher workforce as well as how to recruit and retain doctoral students and new faculty to increase the diversity of those who will be preparing our teachers of tomorrow.
