The Economic Impact of VITA
For nearly five years, the School of Accountancy at Parker College has provided accounting students with a unique practical learning opportunity: participation in VITA, the annual free income tax preparation program. Over this period, accounting students and faculty volunteers completed 725 returns for low-income earners, resulting in an economic impact of more than $1,000,000. Faculty and students alike are excited to serve the community once again in the coming 2024 tax season.

In 2017, Johnathan L. Manning, a Georgia Southern University MBA graduate, shifted from a steady job at Gulfstream Aerospace to day trading. He now leads a small hedge fund, 88 Technologies, and uses his proprietary algorithm, Project Exodus, to consistently earn profits in financial markets. He credits his success to the skills he learned at the Parker College of Business. Looking ahead, Manning aims to make his hedge fund available to those from all financial backgrounds.
