APRIL 2023 UPDATE: ADMISSION OPTIONS WITHOUT ACT OR SAT SCORES

First-year students applying to Georgia Southern University through the summer 2025 semester can be admitted without an ACT or SAT score, if they have a GPA of  3.2 or higher.* Students who have a GPA of less than 3.2 should submit official ACT or SAT scores along with their high school transcript to be considered for admission. All students must be on track to complete the Required High School Curriculum to be admitted. Learn more on the Freshman Requirements Page

*Georgia Southern calculates your high school GPA for admission based on 17 required high school courses.

What Kind of Student am I?

Freshmen are students currently enrolled in high school or who have recently graduated high school and have not enrolled as a degree-seeking student at another university or college since graduation. These students are considered undergraduate students.

Transfer students are those who have attended one or more regionally accredited postsecondary institution(s) since graduating from high school. These students may have earned credit transferable to Georgia Southern, but have never attended Georgia Southern as more than a transient.

Dual Enrollment is a state program allowing select high school students to attend college before receiving a high school diploma. Georgia Southern allows qualified high school juniors and seniors to participate.

International students are students who are neither a U.S. citizen nor a U.S. permanent resident who wishes to attend a U.S. university or college.

Adult students and working professionals are those who have been out of high school for at least five years or your high school class graduated at least five years ago.

A transient is an undergraduate student in good standing at another institution who enrolls for one semester at Georgia Southern University in order to complete work to be transferred back to the home institution.

A post-baccalaureate is a student that has received a bachelor’s degree from another institution and wants to enroll in additional undergraduate level courses. They may or may not seek to earn a second undergraduate degree.

Former students are those that have attended Georgia Southern before, have sat out for a year or more, and are looking to return to complete an undergraduate degree.
