What is Public Health?

Public health promotes and protects the health of people and the communities where they live, work, and play.

We work to prevent people from getting sick or injured and we promote wellness by encouraging healthy behaviors.

Public health touches each one of us every day. From the clean water you use to brush your teeth, the seatbelt in your car, vaccinations you receive, and the safety of the food you eat—these are just a few of the examples of how public health initiatives keep our communities healthy.
