The City of Savannah Archaeology Resource Protection Draft Ordinance is posted at a new City website

City of Savannah officials have posted the Archaeology Resource Protection Draft Ordinance at their new information webpage.

This draft ordinance relates to archaeological resources on City properties, and it details review procedures for ground disturbing projects on public property. The archaeological resource protection program would be administered and enforced by the City Manager or designee, and a qualified archaeologist would conduct assessments and evaluations of archaeological resources using a phased approach.

Public comments relating to this draft ordinance will be accepted through November 20, 2019. The City will post a final version of the ordinance by November 25, in advance of consideration by City Council.
