On-Campus Opportunity for Experience

Start Date:   M June 3 2019       –  start & end dates are flexible based on department internship requirements
End Date:    F  August 2 2019
Hours:        20-35 per week; within normal business day 8am – 5pm
                   I am willing to work around a class schedule if needed
Location:     Marketing within the Office of the Dean
                    College of Engineering & Computing
                    Statesboro Campus, IT bldg, rm – TBD

Credit or non-Credit: based on the student’s course needs/requirements and department approval (if applicable)
Unpaid:      Value  experience in multiple areas of business and IT:

The Marketing office handles: branding, advertising, public relations, publicity, promotional event planning, video projects, photography projects,
social media management, website content management, media release/advisory content, and more…
The student IT intern would work primarily on website content management within the parameters of the University website guidelines, assisting to develop webpage designs & templates, involvement in College level website team, website project manageement, adding video clips & photo images to web pages, and social media content management along with other marketing efforts.
PC-based working environment; laptop provided for office use; WordPress platform for website version 5.0/Guttenberg upgrade; social media Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter
Student should have or be:
  • Creative thinking skills
  • Initiative to share and implement ideas for project related tasks
  • Quality writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Appropriate interpersonal skills and mannerism
  • Understanding of social media use for BUSINESS purposes
  • Comfort working with diverse populations
  • Start-to-Finish project mentality
  • Dependable work ethic + Responsible for communicating with supervisor
  • Understand smartphones are tools, not lifelines during the business day
  • Willingness to jump in when other departments need assistance
  • Willingness to perform basic office tasks:
    • use a multi-line telephone, use multi-task copier/printer, clerical duties (filing, sorting, preparing mail, etc.)
    • use Google Applications:  Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms
  • Website management skills – can train on specific WordPress platform (video tutorials available)
  • Photography skills helpful, but not required
  • Video editing skills helpful, but not required
  • MS Word, MS Powerpoint, MS Publisher skills helpful, but can train on the job
Attire: Due to the summer season, attire is corporate casual to casual
          however, no shorts, no hats, no mid-drift tops, no flip flops (sandals are fine)
