Georgia Southern Redesignated as a National Security Agency Center of Academic Excellence inCyber Defense

On June 21, 2023, it was announced that after an over one-year long effort, Georgia Southern was re-
designated as an NSA CAE-CD (Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense).
The Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) designation is awarded to regionally accredited academic institutions
offering cybersecurity degrees and/or certificates at the Associates, Bachelors, and graduate levels.
We are proud of our redesignation, and it not only shows a commitment to continuing our efforts in
Cybersecurity Education, Outreach, and Service to maintain our designation. This redesignation allows
Georgia Southern to continue to offer various opportunities to our students only allowed to NSA CAE
institutions, including the DoD Cyber Security Scholarship Program (DoD CySP), which provides tuition,
books and a $25,000 stipend to students who apply and are selected for this highly competitive
program. The designation is now valid through the 2028 academic year, and the certificate will be
presented to Georgia Southern at a later date.
