Kristen Dickens, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development, has an article published in the current (December 2016) edition of Counselor Education and Supervision. The article, entitled “Counselor Education Doctoral Students’ Experiences with Multiple Roles and Relationships,” explores the development of counselor educators by examining lived experiences with multiple roles and relationships of 10 doctoral candidates seeking degrees in counselor education. Four superordinate themes were found by Dickens and co-authors Christine Ebrahim and Barbara Herlihy: power differential, need for education, transformation, and learning from experiences. Findings revealed that multiple roles and relationships offer doctoral students positive and negative experiences, shaping their development as future counselor educators.
