Rahimi featured in INSIGHT Into Diversity article

In an article by INSIGHT Into Diversity, College of Education (COE) Professor of Middle Grades and Secondary Education Regina Rahimi, Ed.D., was interviewed as an expert on trauma-informed educational practices.

The article addresses the negative social and academic outcomes surrounding students in today’s classrooms. As students face pandemic learning loss, widespread racial tensions and other stressors, the article acknowledges that now, perhaps more than ever, trauma-informed teaching practices are needed across the nation.

Rahimi, along with COE colleagues Delores Liston, Ph.D., and Amee Adkins, Ph.D., have researched trauma responses in Georgia schools and, as a result, developed a yearly conference, the Trauma-Informed Education Symposium (TIES), to empower teachers to better serve their student body who many be struggling with underlying stress, anxiety and suffering.

The article details core principals for trauma-informed practices and addresses the need for implementation of programs and practices across classrooms and even work environments.
