Georgia Southern University Student Selected As CHANGE Leader By International Organization

Georgia Southern University political science major Allison Beasley has been selected by Oxfam America as a CHANGE Leader.
Oxfam America serves as an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. Beasley is one of just 50 students chosen from around the world to participate in the CHANGE Initiative program.

The CHANGE Initiative is a national program that develops leaders to inspire greater global awareness in others. CHANGE Leaders participate in an intensive week of leadership training that introduces them to social justice issues related to Oxfam America’s mission, and will work on one or more of these issues throughout the academic year.
Though the program is highly competitive, Beasley feels ready for the challenge.

‘I look forward to the challenges and growth I will experience through the week as well as the encouragement I will receive through being surrounded by like-minded students with similar passions and desire for positive change,” says Beasley.
Beasley is also be interning at Habitat for Humanity of Bulloch County over the summer, and will be working on several projects that will improve programming, coordination and communication within the organization.
