Georgia Southern University’s Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art presents “Juried 2016: Undergraduate Exhibition,” April 4-14, in the Contemporary Gallery at the Center for Art & Theatre. The exhibition spotlights the exceptional artwork being produced by undergraduate students within the BFSDoArt. Work in this show represents the various disciplines taught within the department including: sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and mixed media. A reception and awards ceremony will be, Friday, April 8, 5-7 p.m. at the gallery. The public is invited to attend.

“Juried 2016 was juried by New York City Gallerist and Curator Bridget Donahue. Donahue is co-founder of the innovative DIY gallery space, and was gallery director at D’Amelio Terras Gallery and Gavin Brown’s Enterprise. Donohue owns her own gallery in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Bridget Donahue Gallery, which made a number of “Best of 2015” lists from such publications as the New York Times and Art in America. Donahue’s expertise ranges from 2D painting, 3D sculpture and installation, new media work and more.

“The BFSDoArt is an interdisciplinary program, a fact readily apparent through the great diversity of styles, media and disciplines on display in this year’s ‘Juried Undergraduate Exhibition,’” said Jason Hoelscher, BFSDoArt gallery director and assistant professor. “Thanks go to the enthusiasm and critical eye of Bridget Donahue in jurying this thought-provoking and compelling exhibition, as well as big-time congratulations to the students whose work is featured.”
