Student-parents on Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus in Savannah who are participating in the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Program recently met for the first parent support group meeting.

In partnership with Shelter From the Rain, a non-profit in Savannah, the parent support group meeting featured guest speaker and alumna Teia Acker, who spoke to the students about resilience. Additionally, student-parents received baby supplies and household goods.

The Parent Support Group is open to student-parents who are in the CCAMPIS Program, in which eligible participants can receive up to $150 a week for assistance with childcare costs. As a member of the Parent Support Group, student-parents can also receive support and training on financial literacy, parenting, stress management, navigating student life, time management, self-care and mental health, along with access to resources and organizations such as Shelter From the Rain. The CCAMPIS Program is currently accepting applications.
