Submit new materials requests to University Libraries through May

University Libraries will offer all faculty the opportunity to submit requests for new materials needed for their teaching or research between March 1 and May 31.

The Libraries are moving to this new model of acquisitions to prevent a backlog of "rush" requests at the beginning of each semester. Rush requests can result in increased prices, often these rush requests cost three times as much as regular shipments. Even when paying these exorbitant costs, vendors cannot guarantee that materials will be shipped in time. Please keep in mind that once materials are received, they need to be cataloged at the Libraries before they are available to you and your students.

This is a great opportunity for instructors to ensure that books, streaming films and other items needed to support the curriculum are available to students on the first day of class whether that course takes place during the Summer or Fall 2024, or during either 2024 Minimester. Faculty can also use this priority window to request materials for their own research and scholarship.

Please take advantage of this opportunity because the option to rush order new items will not be available except in the most dire of circumstances.

The preferred ordering time frame for priority library materials needed for Summer or Fall 2024 courses or faculty research is March 1 to May 1.
