Georgia Legal Food Frenzy takes off April 15

In its 13th year, the Georgia Legal Food Frenzy is returning to Georgia Southern. The annual two-week fundraising competition in April challenges law firms, legal organizations, judicial circuits and corporate in-house counsel, to see who can have the biggest impact on hunger! This year’s competition at Georgia Southern led by the Office of Legal Affairs “Legal Eagles” runs April 15-26.

One in eight children in Georgia is at risk for hunger, and over 60% of Georgia’s public school students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals each day. Many of these children are learning virtually and missing out on meals they once received at school. As the summer approaches, these children will continue to struggle as they potentially remain at home with fewer options for daycare programs, relying solely on their family’s pantries. Food banks have been responding to a 30% increase in demand for food assistance since the onset of the pandemic, and the majority of the families seeking food assistance today are seeking food assistance for the first time.

The Legal Food Frenzy began in partnership with the Office of the Georgia Attorney General, the Young Lawyer’s Division of the State Bar and Feeding Georgia to benefit Georgia’s regional food banks. Every $1 donated can help the Food Bank provide enough food for six meals. All funds raised are used locally and benefit the food bank in our area.

The Legal Eagles have participated in the Georgia Legal Food Frenzy for eight consecutive years to help the Georgia Legal community raise more than $5.9 million dollars, which equals more than 23 million meals for those in need. The 2024 “Eagle Eye” goal is to donate a minimum of $3,000 to the Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia food bank. Faculty, staff, students and the community are encouraged to participate.

Donate or join the team beginning April 15. Please note that only funds raised on this website between April 15-26, 2024 will be attributed to the Food Frenzy tally.
