Georgia Southern’s annual economic impact continues to grow, topping more than $1 billion
A new report shows Georgia Southern University has increased its annual economic impact of more than $1 billion on the region it serves. The report, released by the University System of Georgia, says Georgia Southern is a significant part of the system’s $17.7 billion economic impact on the state of Georgia in FY 2018.
Georgia Southern’s free shuttle further connects Statesboro and Savannah campuses
Georgia Southern University started a new shuttle service for students, faculty and staff between the Statesboro Campus and Armstrong Campus in Savannah. The free service began Aug. 12, just before the start of the university’s fall semester.
Georgia Southern’s i2STEMe receives 2019 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity
Georgia Southern University’s Institute for Interdisciplinary STEM Education received the 2019 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity, a diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. The Inspiring Programs in STEM Award honors colleges and universities that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the fields of STEM.
Georgia Southern graduate student conducts research as snake specialist in Honduras
Lauren Wilson, a graduate student in the Georgia Southern University Department of Biology, spent the summer working as a snake specialist in Central America. Wilson joined a research team tasked with quantifying and protecting biodiversity in the forests of Cusuco National Park in Honduras.
Georgia Southern school psychology students work with special needs children in Ecuador, experience is life-changing
Over the summer, three Georgia Southern students traveled to Quito, Ecuador, to participate in the Ecuador Professional Preparation Program, an 18-day cultural immersion program for psychology graduate students and mental health professionals.

To meet a projected demand for computer science and information technology occupations, Georgia Southern University is launching a new, completely online, information technology degree.
Women’s Soccer celebrates Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day
Women’s Soccer faces off against Presbyterian on Sunday, Sept. 1 in the first match up of the regular season on Eagle Field. Join the Eagles as they celebrate Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day!
