Noir comedy ‘Red Herring’ opens Feb. 20 on the Armstrong Campus
Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus’ student-run theatre group, The Masquers, will present “Red Herring,” their first black box show of the new year. A hilarious spoof of the noir genre, the play is set in 1952 and follows a murder mystery, a nuclear espionage plot and three love stories as they converge in a mixed-up world. The show will run Feb. 20 through Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. in Jenkins Hall Black Box Theatre.
United States Navy Band to perform on Georgia Southern’s Armstrong Campus on Feb. 28
The United States Navy Band, the 2019 recipient of the National Medal of Arts, will perform on Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus on Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
Georgia Southern football announces National Signing Day 2020 class
The Georgia Southern football program announced today a football class composed of four student-athletes who joined Eagle Nation in the February recruiting period. These four join 20 others who were announced in the early signing period.
Armstrong Campus hosts annual ‘High School Congressional Exhibition’
Georgia Southern University’s Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art will host the annual Congressional Art Competition for high school students in Georgia’s 1st Congressional District. Works in “An Artistic Discovery” will be displayed on the Armstrong Campus in the Fine Arts Gallery. The exhibition will run on weekdays Feb. 10-23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a closing reception on Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Georgia Southern students to provide free income tax preparation for community
Georgia Southern senior Alyssa Morgan is looking forward to tax season this year. As a student in the School of Accountancy in the Parker College of Business, Morgan will gain hands-on experience with tax preparation as she and her peers offer free tax prep and e-file services to residents in Statesboro and surrounding communities through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
Eagles face tough competition at home this week
Softball opens up their season at home with the Bash in the Boro Tournament over the weekend with two games on Friday and Saturday and one on Sunday.
Women’s rifle hosts the Georgia Collegiate Championship against the University of North Georgia on Saturday at the Shooting Sports Education Center.
Men’s tennis hosts two matches on Saturday against Kennesaw State University and University of South Carolina Upstate.
Women’s tennis hosts Kennesaw State University on Saturday and the University of South Carolina Upstate on Sunday.
