Georgia Southern hosts ribbon-cutting ceremony for new Military Science building

Georgia Southern University’s award-winning Army ROTC Eagle Battalion now has a new world-class building in which to learn, network and grow their skills. Georgia Southern University President Jaimie Hebert, Ph.D., hosted the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new Military Science building last week. The 32,000-square-foot space features four classrooms, a state-of-the-art computer lab, conference room with VTC capabilities, 25 Cadre and staff offices, and a 5,000 square-foot multipurpose room.

Public Safety welcomes two new officers, first K-9 officer

Georgia Southern University officially welcomed two new public safety officers and one dedicated K-9 officer to the force. Georgia Southern’s Office of Public Safety now has 39 officers who serve the University’s campus as well as assist local agencies.

Adrian Peterson elected to
College Football Hall of Fame

Adrian Peterson

Former Georgia Southern star Adrian Peterson added another honor to his already sparkling résumé today when he was named to the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2017.

Peterson’s No. 3 jersey is retired at Georgia Southern and he still stands as the NCAA’s Division I all-time leading rusher with 6,559 yards in regular-season contests. He is already a member of GS’s Athletics Hall of Fame and was a four-time All-American for the Eagles.
