Georgia Southern’s Armstrong Campus hosts annual Golden Graduates Luncheon

Kessler and Sottile discuss renovations of Armstrong House

On July 25, Georgia Southern University’s Office of Alumni Relations hosted the Golden Graduates Luncheon, an annual tradition that brings members of the Armstrong State University classes of 1937 through 1965 together, in the Student Union Ballroom on the Armstrong Campus. A catered lunch allowed guests time to mingle before turning their attention to guest speakers Richard C. Kessler, CEO of the hospitality brand Kessler Collection, and architect Christian Sottile, who presented “The Legacy of the Armstrong House: From Mansion to College to Mansion.”

Georgia Southern faculty selected for prestigious Scripps Howard Visiting Professorship

Georgia Southern University Department of Communication Arts faculty member Dean Cummings, Ph.D., has been selected as a recipient of one of two 2018-19 Scripps Howard Foundation Visiting Professors in Media Ad Sales by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).

Students study, share True Blue spirit in Virginia

Students in the Department of History on the Armstrong Campus took part in a field school with Alena Pirok, Ph.D., at George Washington’s boyhood home, Ferry Farm, in Virginia. The students traveled to various museums and historical sites and took part in the archaeology excavation at Ferry Farm. Remember to be hands-free in Eagle Nation

As of Sunday, July 1, Georgia has gone hands-free. What does this mean? No driver is allowed to have a phone in their hand or use any part of their body to support a phone while driving a vehicle. This includes while sitting at a red light or other traffic control device.

Drivers may only make and receive calls using bluetooth technology in their vehicle, or by using speakerphone, earpiece or wireless headset. Cell phones may be used for navigation or GPS. For full details concerning this law, please visit: headsupgeorgia.com/handsfree-law.
