Diversity expert to deliver keynote on Statesboro, Armstrong campuses
As part of the University’s commitment to build a safe, diverse and inclusive environment, we have invited nationally recognized consultant Damon Williams, Ph.D., to assess our current strengths and weaknesses related to issues of diversity and inclusion. His keynote address, “From Awareness, to Action, to Innovation: Empowering Leaders Through Inclusive Excellence,” will take place on Oct. 26 on the Statesboro Campus and on Nov. 6 on the Armstrong Campus.
College of Education alumnus receives national recognition for administration role
Georgia Southern University College of Education alumnus Jeff Kelly, Ed.D. (‘96), who earned a bachelor’s in middle grades education from the University, was named a 2018 National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) Outstanding Middle Level Assistant Principal of the Year.
Early voting available on Statesboro Campus
The Dean of Students Office wants to remind the University community early voting is available on the Statesboro Campus this year for anyone who is registered to vote in Bulloch County. Early voting will be available in the Russell Union Ballroom Oct. 23 through Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Staff Council kicks off 8th annual Warm Clothing Drive
Georgia Southern University’s Staff Council is conducting its eighth annual Warm Clothing Drive Oct. 22 through Nov. 16. Please consider donating new or gently used cold weather clothing and accessories that you no longer need. All sizes of coats, hats, gloves, scarves and warm clothes are accepted. Drop off sites are available at the Statesboro, Armstrong and Liberty campuses.
13th annual International Festival brings worldwide cultures to Statesboro
Brazil, France, India, Japan, the United Kingdom and many other countries will be represented in Statesboro on Oct. 27 at the 13th annual International Festival. International students from the Georgia Southern University Global Ambassadors Program will help local elementary, middle and high school students set up booths for the festival, which will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mill Creek Regional Park.
Holiday Helper Tree celebrates 25th anniversary
Join the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement for the annual Holiday Helper Tree kickoff event and lighting of the tree, set for Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. in the Russell Union Commons on the Statesboro Campus. This is the 25th anniversary of the Holiday Helper Tree, which gives the University community a chance to help someone have a more cheerful holiday season.

This year, Georgia Southern wants to turn the tables and show its love for the Statesboro-Bulloch County community with A Day for Statesboro. Join us in downtown Statesboro for First Friday with live music, food, fun, Georgia Southern displays and a few surprises!
