Don’t get ticketed or towed on Game Day
Thousands of alumni and fans will flock to Allen E. Paulson Stadium for two Thursday night football games this season: Oct. 27 against Appalachian State University and Nov. 10 against the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Review Game day parking regulations from the Office of Parking and Transportation to avoid getting ticketed or towed.
Register for the inaugural Willie J. Burden Golf Tournament
Georgia Southern has created the Willie J. Burden Memorial Scholarship, for sport management students in the School of Health and Kinesiology. Professor Emeritus Willie J. Burden , Ed.D. Dr. Burden served 16 years at Georgia Southern University teaching 13 different courses in sport management, and served as Undergraduate Program Coordinator, and advisor for the Sport Management Club. Proceeds from the Inaugural Dr. Willie J. Burden Golf Tournament will go to fund the scholarship.
Alumna designs 2016 Governor’s Award for the Arts and Humanities
Georgia Southern University alumna Shaunté Francois was selected to design the 2016 Governor’s Award for the Arts & Humanities. Francois, a jewelry and small metals artist, graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (3D Studio Arts) in 2015.
Presented by the Office of Governor Nathan Deal in partnership with the Georgia Council for the Arts and Georgia Humanities, the Governor’s Awards for the Arts and Humanities honor the outstanding individuals and organizations making significant contributions to Georgia’s civic and cultural vitality through excellence and service to the arts and humanities.
Botanic Garden Plant Sale kicks off this weekend
The Botanic Garden at Georgia Southern University will celebrate the beauty of autumn with the Fall 2016 Plant Sale Oct. 28-30. Annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees that have been chosen to succeed in our conditions will all be available for purchase.
Georgia Southern to host first TEDxGeorgiaSouthernU event
Georgia Southern University will host TEDxGeorgiaSouthernU on Friday, Oct. 28, 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., in the University’s Black Box Theatre, located in the Center for Art & Theatre. The theme for this year’s event is “Connecting Creatively.” Registration is now open and available through GeorgiaSouthern.edu/TEDx with limited seats available.
