Nursing Faculty Awarded Grant Through NAPNAP Foundation

The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) Foundation has awarded three faculty members in the Georgia Southern School of Nursing with a 2016 NAPNAP Foundation research grant in the amount of $5,000. Recipients of the grant are assistant professor Crystal Edds-McAfee, DNP, RN, MS, CPNP, instructor Valerie Martinez, DNP, APRN, CPNP, and assistant professor Sheri K. Carey, DNP, APRN, PCNS-BC, CCRN.

Biology Professor Receives $280,798 NSF Grant

John Schenk, Ph.D., curator of the Georgia Southern Herbarium in the Georgia Southern University Department of Biology, received notification that his National Science Foundation (NSF) Biological Research Collections grant has been funded in the amount of $280,798 to integrate uncatalogued plants into the Herbarium.

Schenk’s proposal is titled “Making a large impact on a small herbarium: Integration of un-accessioned and orphaned specimens to secure and promote wider use of the collection.”

The Drifters Set to Appear Oct. 2

The Drifters

On Oct. 2, travel back in time with The Drifters, who will take the stage at Georgia Southern’s Performing Arts Center at 3 p.m. Touring under the auspices of their original management team, the Treadwell family, they are bringing their best and most famous hits, including “This Magic Moment,” “Stand by Me” and “There Goes My Baby,” to Statesboro. This historic reunion supports their new album, The Drifters Salute the Great American Songbook.

Please join Georgia Southern University Student-Athletes in supporting our fellow conference schools and their communities in the recovery efforts due to recent flood damage in Louisiana. Donations can be made until Nov. 10, 2016, at:

  • The Georgia Southern Ticket Office
  • Guest Relations tents on Allen E. Paulson Stadium’s north and south concourses at football games until halftime
  • Guest Relations tables near the game entry for volleyball (Hanner Fieldhouse)
  • Men’s and women’s soccer at Eagle Field
