Eric Kartchner is an associate professor of Spanish. For his bachelor’s, he studied French, Spanish, and Philosophy; his master’s studies were in Hispanic literature and Romance linguistics; and his doctoral studies focused on early modern Hispanic literature, with minors in Hispanic linguistics and comparative literature. He enjoys teaching a wide variety of courses in language, literature, and linguistics. His research ranges from the Spanish Baroque to the Latin American Boom to best practices in language pedagogy. Dr. Kartchner is a certified Oral Proficiency Interview Tester and Tester Trainer for the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. In this role he provides language proficiency training to K-16 language instructors across the country. He also enjoys dancing Latin rhythms, gardening, and raising chickens.
