POSITION SUMMARY:
The Systems Engineer is responsible for managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure. Primary duties include installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools as well as ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.

2 Year Technical Degree or equivalent technical work experience.

Ability to work with a diverse group of people.

Must be able to provide a criminal background check with results that adhere to Bulloch County Board of Education Policy GAK(1).

Preferred Qualifications

CompTIA Network+ Certification.

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).

Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box).

Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides system integration and configuration across the LAN/WAN environment.

Supports the planning and configuration of the school wide network.

Manages system integration for instruction and administration.

Manages the design procedures for system updates and upgrades.

Coordinates with Network Engineer to support the design, configuration and coordination of all administrative and instructional LANs.

Analyzes software / hardware upgrades and new releases for WAN and LAN use.

Manages software / hardware upgrades for Domain Controllers.

Managers software / hardware upgrades for VMWare virtualized data centers.

Communicates effectively with a variety of personnel while providing services.

Ensures that system standards are implemented for file servers, workstations and software.

Manages installation of file servers and workstations for all LANs.

Evaluates best method to restore data lost to drive failure.

Plans with Information Systems staff on technical standards and installation.

Meets with vendors to evaluate new hardware and software products.

Resolves technical problems via telephone conversations and school visits.

Supports the design standards for LAN access via WAN.

Coordinates the evaluation of hardware and software prototypes to meet system standards.

Monitors installation of new software and hardware upgrades and releases.

Monitors maintenance issues with vendors.

Meets necessary quality standards while completing work assignments.

Achieves results consistent with job expectations and performance standards.

Provides professional services in a positive work environment.

Provides Level III technical support service.

Assists with the coordination of technical services.

Maintains professional knowledge and skills.

Performs other duties as requested.

Performance Factors:

Medium Work:  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent or designated supervisor in accordance with Policy GBI – Evaluation of Personnel.
