Hodges co-authors chapter providing support for academic authors

Charles Hodges, Ph.D., professor of instructional technology in the Department of Leadership, Technology and Human Development, co-authored a chapter in the recent e-book to assist researchers with getting published in academic journals.

What Journal Editors Wish Authors Knew About Academic Publishing was published in March by the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE) and compiles best practices from journal editors representing more than a century of experience.

Hodges, who serves as the editor-in-chief for TechTrends, a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), co-authored a chapter based on the journal’s approach to the review and selection of articles for the journal as well as advice for authors.

Initial advice included familiarizing oneself with the typical published content and paying close attention to format requirements for the manuscript as laid out by the journal’s guidelines. Hodges also emphasizes the importance of public impact research and writing that provides implications on practice.

Additional specific guidance for getting published, specifically in TechTrends is detailed in the chapter as well. For the complete e-book, visit https://www.learntechlib.org/p/219093/
