SFC Chad Sparks

SFC Sparks joined the Eagle Battalion in Summer 2022 and currently serves as a Military Science Instructor for Georgia Southern-Armstrong Campus and Savannah State University.

Born on March 9, 1987 in Wheatridge, Colorado, SFC Chad A. Sparks was raised in Bear Creek, CO where he graduated in 2005. SFC Sparks enlisted into Active Duty in May of 2006 and completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) in Fort Benning, GA, being awarded the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 11B Infantryman.

Upon his completion of OSUT, SFC Sparks was assigned to HHC, 4/23 IN BN at Fort Lewis, WA. During his tenure there, he was assigned as a Grenadier, Reconnaissance Scout, Scout Team Leader, Interim Armored Vehicle (IAV) Commander, and Operations NCO. While assigned to 4/23 IN, SFC Sparks conducted two deployments to Afghanistan (Jul 2009-Dec 2009 and Apr 2012- Jan 2013). He was then given permanent change of station (PCS) orders to Fort Carson, CO in Aug 2013, where he was assigned as a Rifle Platoon Sergeant with B CO, 2/12 IN BN. While assigned there, SFC Sparks conducted another deployment to Afghanistan (Feb 2014-Sep 2014). He then PCS’d to Fort Benning, GA in Jul 2017, where he was assigned as a Senior Drill Sergeant (SDS) with C CO, 2/54 IN BN from Jul 2017 to Jul 2019. SFC then PCS’d to Vilseck, Germany in Aug 2019, where he was assigned as a Rifle Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Regimental Training Management NCOIC with K TRP, 3/2 CR and RHHT, 2 CR. While assigned with 2 CR, SFC Sparks conducted a rotational deployment to Poland (Jan 2020-Jul 2020) and an operational deployment to MK Air Base, Romania (Mar 2022 – May 2022). From there, SFC Sparks PCS’d to Savannah, GA in Jul 2022, where he is currently assigned.

SFC Sparks’ military education include the Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Master Leader Course, Pathfinder School, Airborne School, US Army Drill Sergeant School, Tactical Tracking Operations School, Counter Radio Controlled-IED Electronic Warfare (CREW) Master Gunner Course, Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape (SERE) B Course, Master Tactical Site Exploitation (TSE) Course, Master Fitness Trainer (MFT) Course, Basic Combatives Course (BCC), Tactical Combatives Course (TCC), Equal Opportunity (EO) Leaders Course, Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Certification Course, Unit Prevention Leader (UPL) Course, Company Team Leader Course, Force Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2) Course, Automated Airload Planner Course, and Stryker Reconnaissance Vehicle (RV) Crew Course.

SFC Sparks has been married to his wife, Ashley, for 12 years and have two children, Brooke and Hailey.
