Office of Marketing and Communications wins Communicator awards
The Office of Marketing and Communications at Georgia Southern University has won three 2017 Communicator Awards for writing and design.
Ascension, the University’s research magazine, won the Award of Excellence for writing, the organization’s highest award level. Additionally, Ascension won an Award of Distinction for overall design. The office also won an Award of Distinction for the President’s Box Invitation to the 2016 Georgia Southern football games.
Georgia Southern recognizes University integration with commemorative marker
A new commemorative marker on Georgia Southern University’s campus pays tribute to a special part of Georgia Southern’s history and the University’s first African-American students who courageously paved the way and provided hope for a better way of life for students who followed.
COE alumna uses Google to connect students, teachers globally
Educational technology has become a passion for Georgia Southern University College of Education (COE) alumna Hollie Sisk (‘01,‘05).
A media specialist in the Bulloch County School system, Sisk desired to train not only students but also her fellow educators on how to utilize Google for Education, an online resource of applications for educators to connect, discover new educational products and news, and participate in training on a global perspective.
“Seventeen of the 18 districts in First District RESA are implementing Google for Education with a goal of eventually becoming one-to-one with devices like the Chromebook; however many teachers do not know how to use Chromebooks and Google for Education core suite of services,” said Sisk.
SGA president named as a finalist in national student body awards
Dylan John (‘16), president of the University’s Student Government Association (SGA), can now add “finalist in the Campus Legacy 2017 Student Body President of the Year,” a national competition, to his growing list of leadership credentials.
University Day with the Atlanta Braves
Make plans to come out to SunTrust Park on Saturday, June 24, to visit with fellow Eagle friends and cheer on the Atlanta Braves as they take on the Milwaukee Brewers! Two ticket packages are available and include a Georgia Southern University Day Tervis Tumbler.
Zach S. Henderson Library to host annual Farm-To-Table Dinner June 8
Tickets are on sale now through June 3 for the eighth annual Farm-to-Table fundraising dinner benefiting the Zach S. Henderson Library. The dinner will take place on Thursday, June 8, at Forest Heights Country Club at 6:30 p.m.
