Georgia Southern Sales Students Earn Top Honors and Awards at the 2024 Pi Sigma Epsilon National Convention

Representing over 50 active chapters nationwide, Pi Sigma Epsilon held its 2024 National Convention where Georgia Southern University proudly represented the Gamma Lambda Chapter.

Kevon Graham, Carly Williams, Lexi Weeks, Tyler Giovannini, Trent Williams, Clovia Burleyson, Zach Mason, Alexander Pagan, and Cassidy Kirk represented Georgia Southern University at the 2024 Pi Sigma Epsilon National Convention in St. Louis, MO.

STATESBORO, GA (April 16, 2024) – The Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE) National Convention offered students the opportunity to network with industry experts, thought leaders, and fellow participants who share a passion for personal and professional development. Held in St. Louis, MO, the 2024 convention offered a wide range of sessions, panel discussions, competitions, and workshops as the event celebrated 50 years of women in PSE.

The PSE National Convention offered several individual competitions, including The Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon® National Sales Competition, The National Speakers Competition, The Sports Selling Competition presented by the New York Mets, and The Interview Competition presented by Mutual of Omaha. In addition, students had the opportunity to compete in The National Scholarship Program with the opportunity to be awarded one of 20 scholarships, totaling more than $60,000.

“Congratulations to the members of the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon for their continued efforts to take our chapter to the next level,” remarks Travis Brickey, Director of the Center for Sales Excellence and Co-Advisor of the Co-Ed Professional Business Fraternity. “The students representing Georgia Southern at the national convention included Clovia Burleyson, Tyler Giovannini, Kevon Graham, Cassidy Kirk, Zach Mason, Alexander Pagan, Lexi Weeks, Carly Williams, and Trent Williams. Dr. Linda Mullen and I are extremely proud of these students, many first-time competitors, who represented the university with dignity and class amongst their peer institutions. We are thrilled with our showing in so many different PSE competitions!”

Georgia Southern’s Gamma Lambda Chapter earned the following honors:

The Interview Competition

  • Trent Williams – Top 7 Finalist
  • Kevon Graham – Top 20 Finalist
  • Cassidy Kirk – Top 20 Finalist
  • Alexander Pagan – Top 20 Finalist

The goal of The Interview Competition is to give students the opportunity to learn interview techniques, practice interviewing with a live judge, and compete for prizes. Sponsored by Mutual of Omaha, this competition provides students with the opportunity to network and build relationships with potential employers. More than 100 competitors were judged on criteria based on what was learned from the interview guide that was provided, as well as each pre-training session.

The Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon® Competition

  • Alexander Pagan – Top 26 Finalist
  • Trent Williams – Top 26 Finalist

The Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon® National Sales Competition is a year-long competition to train and develop students in all aspects of the sales process. The year-long approach also emphasizes that the pursuit of sales excellence is a journey, not a destination. Students strive to understand the value of approaching sales as a deliberate and repeatable process. Before the convention, contestants had to complete sales modules developed by Carew International. The sales call itself took the form of a 12-minute sales role-play, which had more than 150 elite PSE sales students representing universities from across the nation competing.

3M Scholarship

  • Trent Williams – $1,500 scholarship recipient

The 3M Scholarship recognizes a student who has consistently demonstrated strong leadership behaviors, has a strong academic record with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, demonstrates high integrity, and is actively pursuing a career in sales.

“We had a phenomenal trip to St. Louis showcasing the growth of the Gamma Lambda Chapter at Georgia Southern. I was fortunate enough to help train eight first-time sales competitors, many attending their very first PSE event,” notes Trent Williams, a Senior majoring in Marketing with an emphasis in Sales & Sales Management from the Parker College of Business.

“As for my own performance, I knew this was my final collegiate competition and my last chance to bring home some hardware for Georgia Southern. As a graduating senior, I’m going to miss PSE more than anything!”

The Gamma Lambda Chapter at Georgia Southern University extends its deepest gratitude to the corporate partners of the Center for Sales Excellence. Only with your support are opportunities like this possible for our students as we work together to mentor and develop the sales leaders of the next generation. Our program and students are extremely grateful for your commitment to sales education.
