Speed mentoring conference welcomes small businesses

The Savannah Morning News and Comcast are proud to present a speed mentoring conference open to Savannah area small business owners on Thursday, March 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The conference will be held at the Savannah Morning News Auditorium.

The conference provides an opportunity for small business owners to learn and gain experience from top executives with years of experience in the small business field.  The conference will consist of 25 minutes sessions with mentors covering a wide variety of topics and a presentation by the current President of Columbus State University Dr. Timothy Mescon.

The topics covered during the mentoring sessions include: Finding the Money, the Power of Social Media, Finding Your Niche, When to Outsource, HR Headaches, Cash Flow–Business Lifeblood, Pricing for Profit, Understanding Financial Reports, Preparing a Budget, and Which Product or Service to Keep and Creating Ads that Sell.

Participants will enjoy these sessions conducted by members of the Savannah chapter of SCORE and the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center. Top executives from area businesses will be available to help assist the process as well.  Mescon previously served as the dean at the Michael J. Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University in Atlanta. He is the author of over 200 of articles and has co-authored four books including his latest being Entrepreneurship: Venture Initiation, Management and Development. He also has co-authored an audiotape series entitled Management Excellence for Nightingale-Conant.

Having written much about retail banking, bank marketing and creativity in the financial services industry, Dr. Mescon is prepared to make a presentation during the lunch portion of the conference. Registration for the speed mentoring conference begins at 8 a.m. including coffee and refreshments. Registration cost is $19.95 per person and an extra $9.95 for any additional members of the same organization. The cost includes the mentoring sessions, lunch and Dr. Mescon’s presentation.
