Enzyme – Inquiry

Activity Summary
In this inquiry-based activity, students will learn the role enzymes have in biological systems and what happens when enzymes become denatured. Bromelain is an enzyme found in fresh pineapple that will breakdown gelatin (the protein responsible for solidifying jello) in its active state. Using jello and pineapple, students will make predictions, test their predictions, and observe what happens when pineapple pieces are processed differently.
