Bachelor of Arts in Art, Art History Concentration

Format: In person on the Statesboro Campus or the Armstrong Campus in Savannah
Credit Hours: 124

The B.A. in Art, Art History Concentration program provides you with a deeper understanding of paintings, sculptures, objects and visual experiences from throughout history and around the world. As an art history major, you will investigate and analyze visual styles, cultural movements and social evidence over thousands of years to gain a greater understanding of the connections between different time periods and cultures.

Introductory level courses encourage a basic understanding and appreciation of works of art. The advanced curriculum offers a more intensive and specialized knowledge of art history, providing an opportunity for you to pursue a broad range of cultural and historical genres in the field—western and non-western, prehistory to contemporary.

In addition, you will take a series of studio art foundation courses and exploratory studio courses, learning various creative processes. Students seeking an Art History BA are required to have a minor. Often students who study Art History choose to minor in an area outside of art such as business, foreign language, communication arts, or sociology. Our Academic Advisors are available to help you plan your course schedule.
