Bachelor of Arts in Art, Studio Art Concentration
Format: In person on the Statesboro Campus or the Armstrong Campus in Savannah
Credit Hours: 124
The Bachelor of Arts in Art, Studio Art Concentration degree program at Georgia Southern University provides you with a survey of experiences in the visual arts through coursework in art history and studio arts including:
- Animation and New Media
- Graphic Design
- Jewelry and Small Metals
- Photography and Digital Imaging
- Print, Paper and Book Arts (Printmaking)
This overview provides you with broader training than the focused BFAs.
Coursework encourages critical thinking and conceptual development in a creative studio environment. Studio Art majors, like you, combine their studies with a minor in areas such as psychology, business or foreign languages to pursue studio art jobs or further certification in areas of:
- art therapy
- art administration
- arts business management
- international studies
- in addition to professional studio art careers.

What’s the difference in the BFA and the BA?
Both the BFA and BA prepare students for careers in the art world and entry into a graduate program. The Studio Art BFA is for students who want to develop discipline-specific mastery and/or interdisciplinary professional practice in studio art. The program requires more upper-level studio art courses than the BA. The BA is for students who have interests outside of the studio. The BA requires students to choose a minor which allows students to combine their art degree with a program from a different area.
