Derived Cetane Number

CID 510 – Cetane Ignition Delay by Herzog BAC. Accurate analysis of Derived Cetane Number (DCN) is an important tool for diesel and biodiesel fuel blenders and refineries to maintain fuel consistency and quality. The CID 510 is in perfect correlation to ASTM D613, EN 16715, ISO 5165, IP 41 and IP 615. The patented test method ASTM D7668 is approved as standard and officially listed in diesel specifications: ASTM D975, ASTM D6751, ASTM D7467 and EN 590.

Thermogravimetry (TGA) and Differential Thermal Analyzers (DTA)

The DTG-60 series from Shimadzu uses a parallel guide differential top pan balance mechanism that simultaneously measures temperature changes and mass changes between an inert reference and sample. The differential balance in the DTG-60 series is of the Roberval style, where the sample and reference are located above the balance at the top of two separate detectors. This design prevents changes in sensitivity from thermal expansion, enables high-precision thermogravimetric measurements, and minimizes baseline drifts caused by buoyancy or convection during the heating process. The advanced balance, high-quality detectors, and excellent furnace temperature distribution combine to provide a measurable mass change of ±500 mg, a mass readability of 0.1 µg, a maximum sample quantity of 1 g, and a measurable differential thermal range of ±1,000 µV.

AVL Micro Soot Sensor

The AVL Micro Soot Sensor Aviation is designed for continuous measurement of low soot concentrations in the diluted exhaust gas and is based on the photoacoustic measurement principle. The AIR6241 compliant system is sensitive to soot and able to detect concentrations down to 1 µg/m³. The nvPM mass values are displayed in real-time without the need of additional calculations. The MSS Aviation is calibrated according to AIR6241 requirements.

The AVL SESAM i60 FT is a FTIR multi-component measurement system that measures numerous pre-calibrated gas components in a time-synchronous and dynamic way.

MKS MultiGas 2030 FTIR

The MultiGas 2030 is an FTIR Spectroscopy gas analyzer capable of percent level detection as well as ppb sensitivity for multiple gas species in a variety of applications.

AVL Smart Sampler

The AVL Smart Sampler is a partial flow dilution system intended for gravimetric sampling of exhaust particulates from internal combustion engines under both steady state and transient conditions. The Smart Sampler is fully certified to the U.S. EPA 40-1065 regulation as well as the current European regulations and is approved for a pre-diluter under ECE regulation No.49 for the purpose of particle number counting. It is also designed and proven to work under US 1066 light duty chassis dyno testing.

AVL Smoke Meter

The AVL Smoke Meter uses the filter paper method to determine the Filter Smoke Number (FSN defined according to ISO 10054) and the soot concentration in mg/m³. The variable sampling volume and the thermal exhaust conditioning ensure an extremely high reproducibility and a wide range of application. The instrument can be used not only on large engines but also on light duty engines independent of their generation. In addition, raw exhaust measurements (e.g. upstream a DPF) or measurements up to 5000m altitude can be carried out by using device options.
