MS in Environmental Science Program Highlights
The environmental science program is offered through the James H. Oliver Institute for Coastal Plain Science (ICPS), an interdisciplinary research and education center directed toward understanding the physical and biological resources below the Fall Line and their sustainable use and management.
- Work with scientists and biologists with decades of expertise in the field. Get world-class instruction in the classroom and hands-on experience in a wide range of natural laboratories — forests, beaches, salt marshes, rivers and more — along southeast Georgia’s coastal plain.
- Our interdisciplinary curriculum uses training from across the College of Science and Mathematics. Use data, perspectives and theories from the natural and physical sciences. Learn oral and written communication skills useful for presentations, grant proposals, scientific reports and journal articles.

- Gain hands-on, real-world experience by completing a required Research/Internship
- Study-abroad opportunities are also available for students.

Admission Requirements
- Students must have a GPA of 3.25 (4.0 scale) in major courses or will be admitted at the discretion of the graduate admission committee.
- Two Letters of Recommendation will be required from individuals familiar with the applicant’s potential to complete graduate work.
- The Applicant’s Statement of Purpose needs to include interest in the program, relevant research experience, and future plans.

Do I need to secure a potential faculty advisor before I can submit an application to the program?
The MS in Environmental Science degree program is a non-thesis program, securing a potential faculty advisor is not required.
Can I use an unofficial transcript for application purposes?

The MS in Environmental Science degree program is a non-thesis program, there are no assistantships or other types of support available.
Is a BS degree in Environmental Science required for admission to the program?
No, the MS in Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary degree program and a BS in any of the natural science disciplines is sufficient.
Is there an application deadline?
Yes, the application deadline for the MS in Environmental Science is November 15 for admission in the Spring semester and April 1 for admission in the Fall semester.
Is there a possibility of getting my application fee waived?
