Event Parking & Temporary Restrictions
During special events such as athletic games, concerts, commencement ceremonies, and other high-attendance campus activities, temporary parking and traffic modifications may be implemented by Georgia Southern’s Department of Public Safety or Parking & Transportation. These changes help ensure the safety of attendees and efficient flow of traffic during high-demand periods.
Event-related parking adjustments may include the temporary closure of lots, traffic rerouting, or reserved spaces for guests, vendors, or support staff. In such cases, permit holders may be required to park in alternate lots and should continue to follow all standard parking regulations during these times.
To avoid disruption, it is essential that all university-sponsored events—especially those expecting significant visitor attendance—be communicated in advance to the Parking & Transportation team. Failure to notify the department may result in unauthorized guests parking in permit-reserved lots, causing confusion or displacement for students, faculty, and staff.
We recommend event planners coordinate with Parking & Transportation early in the planning process to discuss traffic management, directional signage, shuttle services (if needed), and parking accommodations to ensure a smooth experience for all attendees.
