What are the dates of the program?

The program will start in early June and run through late July each summer.  We will have July 4th holidays.

Will these work days include weekends or will have the weekends to travel back home to see our families?

No weekends – M-F only.  We can work with individuals to accommodate any prearranged summer travel plans or pre-panning dates that overlap with the research experience.

What do I do about needed time off (holidays, prior vacation commitments)?

Each individual case will be addressed with the PI and arrangements will be made. However, we have build in a make up week for teachers so that we can ensure you are able to complete your experience. The 4th of July Holiday will be 3 days (July 2-4).

How and when will the stipend be distributed?

We plan to pay participants every 2 weeks. As this is a stipend, no taxes will be taken out at the time of payment.  You will receive a 1099 in the mail for tax reporting purposes.

Who can participate?

This experiences is designed for STEM Teachers at the middle and high school level. You must be employed as a teacher or a pre-service teacher at the time of application.

What are the hours each day?

The hours are 8-5 M-F.  However, as with all researcher there may be some variability depending on what project you are taking part in.  Individual researchers will work with you to accommodate any special needs you have but plan to be on campus and in the labs all day.

What is the Research Symposium?

This is an opportunity for you to share your work with others and present the research you have been involved with.  This will take place in the spring of the year following your Summer Experience.  We will work with you to develop materials needed to present your work.  We also encourage you to present at educational conferences around the state.
