Individual Program of Study

EAGLE Academy is committed to the inclusion of students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in all aspects of the University and the surrounding community.  Students will direct the development of their individual program of study through initial and on-going STAR Person-Centered Planning.  The Program of Study is a unique and individualized plan for achievement in academic areas, independent living skills, career development skills, and university life.

EAGLE Academy Courses

EAGLE Academy students are enrolled in courses specifically designed for them. Students receive college credit for these courses. Content includes:

  • Budgeting Skills
  • Health and Wellness
  • Financial Literacy and Money Management
  • Relationship Building
  • Community Engagement
  • Career Exploration and Preparation
  • Preparing for After-College Transitions

Georgia Southern Courses

In addition to the EAGLE Academy courses, students will also take inclusive courses alongside degree seeking students. Students will work with EAGLE Academy staff to determine the appropriate courses based on the student career goals. Students will be able to decide if they wish to receive college credit or audit the inclusive courses.

Students are supported in their inclusive courses. EAGLE Academy staff communicate with professors and provide them with accommodations. Peer Mentors join EAGLE Academy students in their inclusive courses to support the needs of our students. EAGLE Academy students will have the opportunity to complete coursework during the week by working with their Peer Mentors throughout the week.
