Georgia Southern University hosts 45th Annual High School Model United Nations Conference

Georgia Southern University’s Department of Political Science and Division of Continuing Education are hosting the 45th Annual High School Model United Nations Conference in the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center on February 4-6. This year’s conference brings 350 high school students/delegates from twenty-one schools throughout Georgia and South Carolina to the University. The delegates will caucus and debate world issues and write resolutions during this program. A brief agenda is listed below: Thursday, February 4 8:30-9:30 a.m.  Registration – Nessmith-Lane Conference Center 9:30-10:40 a.m.  Welcome and Explanation of Procedures / Opening Statement 10:40-10:45 a.m.  Move to Caucus Sessions (General Assembly Only) / Committees Begin 10:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.  Session I: Military and Security Issues – Begins 10:45-11:15 a.m.  General Assembly Caucus Sessions and Committee Briefings 10:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.  Security Council, African Union, Human Rights Council, Organization of Islamic Conference 2:15-9:30 p.m.   Session I: Military and Security Issues continues Friday, February 5 8:30-10:30 a.m.  Session II: Economic, Social and Other Issues 10:45 a.m.-9:30 p.m.  Session II continues Saturday, February 6 8:45-11:40 a.m.  Plenary Session 11:45 a.m.-12 p.m. Presentation of Awards/Adjournment Georgia Southern University, a public Carnegie Doctoral/Research University founded in 1906, offers more than 125 degree programs serving nearly 20,500 students.
