Let the Southern Games Begin: Georgia Southern University is ready for Homecoming 2016, Nov. 7-10

- Students can exchange non-Georgia Southern University collegiate apparel for a brand-new Georgia Southern Homecoming shirt during the T-Shirt Swap at the Russell Union Rotunda at 11 a.m.
- The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will host Pennies for Eagles at Russell Union Rotunda from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Pennies for Eagles proceeds goes to the Eagles for Eagles fund, which awards scholarships to help Georgia Southern students in extreme financial need.
- The True Blue BBQ and Biggest Fan on Campus Tailgate encourages student organizations to show off their cooking skills for a barbecue competition and set up tailgates with games, music and more. Both contests will be at the Russell Union Rotunda from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- GSU Idol, set for 7 p.m. in the Russell Union Ballroom invites students to show off their musical talents. Tickets are $5 in advance at $7 at the door.
- Student organizations compete in the annual Doo-Dah Dance and Step Show, set for 7 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse for spirit points and prizes. Tickets are $1 and proceeds go to Eagles for Eagles.
- Crowning of Homecoming Duke and Duchess will take place during the intermission of Doo-Dah.
- Sculpt-It for the Food Bank, from 11 a.m. to 2p.m. at the Russell Union Commons, encourages student organizations to create homecoming-theme related sculptures in support of the Statesboro Food Bank.
- The Screaming Eagles lip sync competition is set for 7 p.m. in the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center Ballroom.
- The Homecoming Parade will kick off at 4 p.m. with President Jaimie Hebert, Ph.D., serving as the Grand Marshal.
- The Crowning of Homecoming King and Queen will take place at halftime during Georgia Southern Eagles vs. UL Lafayette.
