Science Olympiad

Founded in 1984, Science Olympiad is the premier team STEM competition in the nation, providing standards-based challenges to 6,000 teams at 425 tournaments in all 50 states. Georgia Southern’s College of Science and Mathematics is proud to be a host for the annual Science Olympiad Division C Regional competition. This science competition provides rigorous, standards-based challenges to high school teams in the Southeast region.

2025-2026 Science Olympiad

This year’s competition is scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Georgia Southern University Statesboro campus. High school students from across Georgia in grades 9-12 will participate in over 23 STEM academic events in several buildings including, the College of Education (COE), Chemistry/Nursing, Military Science (MSB), and Biological Sciences buildings. Competition organizers are looking for volunteers to make this event a success. 

Call for Volunteers

We are asking for volunteers to commit to a three-hour time slot. Volunteer duties may include assisting event supervisors with:

  • set up and take down procedures
  • grading tests, and proctoring exams
  • event scorekeeping

On the day of the event, lunch will be provided to all volunteers.
