The Armstrong Foundation of Georgia Southern University Inc., recently appointed Synovus Senior Vice President Michael F. Kemp and Carlton H. Hodges, partner at Caines, Hodges & Company, as chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of the Armstrong Foundation of Georgia Southern University Board of Trustees.

This summer Georgia Southern University is offering a variety of hands-on educational summer camps for children of all ages.

Two Georgia Southern University faculty members will lead the inaugural Elaris Summer String Academy, an intensive training in chamber music for string players, June 1–5, at the Armstrong Campus in Savannah.

Some might call it weird science, others, simply fascinating. Whatever your view, plantBRUTALITY will definitely unearth thought-provoking ideas about the brutal side of plant life. Launched by Georgia Southern University’s Forest Ecohydrology Research Lab, along with international collaborators, plantBRUTALITY is a new YouTube channel created to introduce viewers to the lesser-known, savage side of the plant kingdom. The plantBRUTALITY channel supports student research in plant science and collaborations with student artists to creatively communicate new scientific stories.

On May 11, two Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus community members shared “Ideas Worth Spreading,” at TEDx Savannah 2018, an all-day, immersive networking event held at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.

Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus is now home to a reproduction of the iconic 1883 painting “The March to Valley Forge” by William Trego. The family of the late Lamar W. Davis Sr., and his wife Mary C. Davis is generously allowing the University to display this painting in the History Department located in Hawes Hall.
